Default Clutch failure...anyone else?

Recently had my clutch fail while I was at a stop light. Turned green, went to shift... clutch pedal was stuck on the floor. Pulled at it with my toe, flopped back to the floor. This was after about 15 minutes of warm up.

Eventually got it to the dealer, they said and ordered, a new clutch slave (my paraphrasing).

I did notice that recently going into first while cold that it was stuttering more easily, which I don't recall it doing at all the months before (I just figured it was my crappy abilities and/or bad memory).

My z51 is 4 months old, recently took the clutch pedal spring off (not sure if there's a correlation, or just sheer coincidence), otherwise don't ride the clutch or have a chance to abuse it yet.

Just curious if anyone has any knowledge/experience with this. I did a seach of all c6 forums, didn't see a precise match.

Thanks!

I didn't experience what you did, my pedal would fall when at redline but since
i had the newer clutch assembly, they replaced my master and clutch cylinders. No problems since.

Were you pushing the clutch while stopped or was the pedal released while waiting out the stop light?

I don't recall 100%, but venture a guess I was pushing the pedal to the floor while at the light.

Seems like the sticky clutch was an early build problem (just quickly read some of the other threads). Then there is the mention of the overheating/boiling potential of the clutch causing the sticky...but not a total failure.

Also others have mentioned the spring ...but not as a contribution to the failure. So I'll leave that off for the time being.

thanks

They finally received a new slave, installed, and that one failed. Service guy isn't happy (gee, what does that make me? ), and has GM on the horn to super-overnight -express a new slave in.

Hoping to have the new part tomorrow and car fixed tomorrow or Wed (so I can work on it during the weekend). The only reason I'm content right now is because it's pouring outside.

Default I heard the clutch on the new 06 Z-06 has been improved.
