I took it off!
After much reading and head scratching, I have taken my Halltech Stinger off and gone back to the stock air box. It seems to me that you really don't get a lot of bang for the buck unless you do at least cat backs and a tune to go along with the aftermarket air filters. I have done the Corsa's, don't want to do headers at the moment and am having second thoughts on tuning based on recent discussions concerning LS2 edit locks, etc. Besides, have hit a money wall and things have to wait a while anyways. Anyone want a lightly used Halltech Stinger? Make me a decent offer and it's yours.
Just so you know.Getting a catback is worth even less than a filter. Then tune is what will get you the most bang for your buck.24rwhp for me from tuning and only a few hp from my catback and filter.
The real gains are from cool air ingestion that one can create by moding the shroud. It would be interesting to see side by side bench flow tests of the stock vs aftermarket air cleaners.

i would suspect that the gains from the tune would not have been as good if the air and cat-back had not already been done.
personally, i don't believe in doing the tune thing, just yet. i've heard that it is possible to get around 500hp when using the stock tune combined with the correct bolt-ons/ins. then get a tune, once you get around 500hp from stock tune have it retuned and see what you get.

How about just the Cold Air Upgrade from Halltech and the factoty air box .

Did a test on my stock air cleaner vs. the Vortex cold air unit on a friends car using a Autoxray 4000 scanner(plugs into OBD11 Vette connector) On a measured run at same speed etc. , the Vortex produced 3 degrees cooler air to the throttle body. On some other thread some techy said that would equate to 2.5 HP. Is it worth $600 (installed) for 2.5HP ?? Air flow might have been greater. Will measure that as soon as the rain stops.

It will be interesting to see a flow test on the new Z06 air filter. It is a new design and is different than the stock flat panel.
The Halltech CAI is what your C6 needs. I conducted a test that Jim Hall suggested and moved my outside air TC to measure the air temp. at the filter before & after CAI was installed. Before CAI it was at the underhood air temp. 105F - 110 F. After CAI it was at ambiant temp.
