What Mods can be made to increase the power of my 05 Z51 auto without voiding my warranty? I have heard that tuning is detectable, and will void the warranty. Only mod i have is Corsa sports(No Hp increase according to info on this board). I only want to gain 2-3 tenths in the 1/4, although .5 secs would be great. Any suggestions?
You're at the mercy of your dealership's service manager and the area service manager. Blow a fuse, no big deal. Blow a rear end and they'll be looking hard. I would stick to bolt ons you can reverse if need be.
PCM with Tune

Exhaust
CAI
If you have a catastrophic failure (and I've had more than my share) you can have it towed back home and remove your mod's. Call the dealer to pick it up when it's back to stock.
BTW, I don't condone running a 175 shot of nitrous, blowing a motor and then sticking GM with the tab. But EVERY performance vehicle should be able to handle an additional 50-75 hp from fairly basic mod's.
US Code - Title 15, Chapter 50, Sections 2301-2312
Legally, a vehicle manufacturer cannot void the warranty on a vehicle due to an aftermarket part unless they can prove that the aftermarket part caused or contributed to the failure in the vehicle (per the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act (15 U.S.C. 2302(C)) . For best results, consider working with performance-oriented dealerships with a proven history of working with customers. If your vehicle manufacturer fails to honor emission/warranty claims, contact EPA at (202) 260-2080 or www.epa.gov. If federal warranty protection is denied, contact the FTC at (202) 326-3128 or www.ftc.gov. For additional information, check out the following links:
There are no performance modifications that will void your warranty completely. However, the modified parts and any part of the car that those modification affect can be excluded from warranty coverage. It's up to the warranter to prove that your modifications are responsible for a repair before they deny coverage. So changing out an exhaust can't void any part of your warranty except the exhaust. But if you have a modified tune they could deny coverage for a wide ranging set of engine problems.
This being said, if a warranter has a bunch of lawyers on staff there's no incentive for them not to fight every Magnuson Moss issue that they encounter.
..... But if you have a modified tune they could deny coverage for a wide ranging set of engine problems.
.
And possibly electrical, transmission and differential problems as well if they want.
When you flash your computer are you using the same procedures that the dealer uses? If not and you have an electrical problem they could give you a hassle. If you have an automatic transmission and you change shift points and line pressures, they could deny coverage. Alter the abuse mode parameters and they could deny coverage on a broken differential and or transmission.
If you can't afford to have it fixed out of pocket, better to leave it stock.

3:73 gears and a Yank SS3600 will get you .3-.5 maybe more with the right tires.

No not my V. I do have Lingenfelter CAI, BB Stainless Headers, Custom TB to MAF pipe, BB exhaust w/ X-pipe and custom tune making 400 rwhp. So far I've been fully covered under warranty and managed to actually get Cadillac to pay for a 6yr/100K mile bumper to bumper warranty because I wasn't satisfied when I knew more about my V than the GM Certified Technician.
I Just can't justify a two seater yet but in about a year I can. By then I'll be in the Z06 market at GMS pricing.
But speaking of V's and Vettes. Congrats to the Caddy TEAM for winning the SCCA Championship. Special thanks to our brethren Vette's, specifically Lou Gigliotti for paving the way for us to finish 1st, 2nd and 4th at Laguna. Made for a great picture! I hope GM keeps building these cars and someday learns to support our owner/enthusiasts properly.

Add tons of pull and no changes to anything with the engine.....get 3.73's in the rear and a TQ converter.
