Default Z06 exhaust

I am interested in mating the Z06 exhaust to my 3" kooks.

Anyone know the part number for it and any info on how the exhaust opens at 3500? What is the theory of operation? Is it full open after that rpm? I would imagine that at 3" and full open up top, it is the best bet in a power mod from an exhaust.

Is it available?

Seems to me I read that it uses vacuum actuators to control the flaps. I think the hard part will be getting the actuators to work at 3500 RPM. I think people have had a hard time getting an RPM source out of the computer with the C6. This based on people who have added nitrous and needed a source. If you figure out how to do it, be sure to post a thread on it so we can learn as well.

P.S. Were you ever taken up on the headers challenge between Kooks and LG?

How about a manual switch?

I will spring for the LG's out of pocket once I get done with my move to Memphis.

I have a window switch and a shift light both operating at this time and took the signal from the blue connector on pin #48 PCM. There is no issue getting the tach signal for a window switch.

I take it the actuators are in the exhaust. Another cool thing would be to use a Wide Open Throttle switch to allow the car to be quiet unless you nail the gas pedal at which time the exhaust would open up. This way at part throttle up to any rpm it would be civil.

I like the way this is beginning to look.

WOT switch is the way I would go. Easy hook up, nice results.

I think one of the original exhaust pics from Kerbeck a few months ago showed a picture of the actuator rod. If you think back to the HEI distributor days and the way the vaccuum advance control rod looked inside the distributor, that is my first impression of how the system worked.

When you say window switch, what do you mean? A switch that only opens above a certain RPM?

Also, is the #48 pin a designated tach signal?

yes, a "window switch" for a N20 system does just what the term implies. it allows the nitrous to be injected ONLY during a specified "window" of operation. you can set it for perhaps (arbitrary example) 3000-6250 rpm's.

that way, you arm the nitrous system, activate it and let er rip. when your rev's come up to 3k the nitrous starts spraying and when they hit 6250 it shuts down.
