Just courious; did you break your car in like the book recommends or drove it like you stole it from day 1 or 2? some people are doing one or the other and I was wondering if the initial break-in has a direct effect on this occurrance or not????

Manual, though enough wheel hop (and/or power) in an auto can bust the rear as well.

And yes he did have tuning so I'm curious if the TM tables had been altered.

Smoove, when we started to race our C6 in the Fall of 04 we also had problems when dumping the clutch along with tires. We had to modify the stock C6 unit and it now sustains those 5000-5500 rpm launches with drag tires. That along with our torque management module enabled our C6 to be the first one in the 10s with our Stage 2X head and cam package.

The 2006 C6 has a stronger rear, here is a link that you might find informative. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...9&page=1&pp=20

I put 400 miles of no shifting with the throttle on the floor with a 5500 rpm red line and no sustained cruising speeds. Then I gradually moved the bar up from there. The car had 2800 miles on it when it broke. Aprox. 1700 miles when it was tuned. I am 50 years young and actually babied the car compared to my 2002 Z28 6 speed that I never broke after 100's of 8 second passes on street tires. I thought the F body was the one with the weak rear end?

That's 8 seconds in the 1/8th mile I assume, correct? I know there can't be too many LS1 F-bodies with stock 10 bolts running 8s in the quarter.

Yes 1/8 mile passes, there are two 1/8 mile tracks fairly close to me, 1/4 mile track is 75 miles away. We will be having a Muscle Car Club Challenge at the end of this month and it will be at Ennis which is 1/4 mile so I can see how the C6 is in the 1/4 if it does not break between now and then.
