Default 158 Mph

I did a stupid thing the other day. While driving with my buddy in the car, he told me to "punch-it". Next thing I know I'm doing 158. I have to admit ...I was nervous and my knees were shaking afterwards. Years ago I would have taken the car to it's full top speed with no qualms. Age 40 has made me more subdued. I wont be taking her up that fast again. On a plus note the car got to 158 effortlessly and very quickly. My Buddy said the "car is so smooth at high speed". He is buying a C6 now

It's not the speed that makes you nervous, it's the thought of getting a ticket at that speed that wobbles my knees.

I'm 58 and would have no problem taking my C6 all the way to top speed, if I had a place where I knew I wouldn't get arrested. A mere ticket would be out of the question at triple digit speeds, and one would surely go to jail and lose one's liscense for a while. In my younger days (35-40 years ago) I wouldn't have given it a second thought, then again, back then a mere ticket was about it, penaltywise. I had a 67 360 HP 396 Camaro back then (late 60s) and it would rock pretty good. I saw 140s often.

A bigger problem is that you are traveling 230 feet per second. In 3 seconds you have moved your 3200 lb car nearly 700 ft. which is more than 2 football fields.

Something to take into consideration is ones ability to react quickly. If something jumps out in front of your car, lets say a dog or a deer or another car, at 200 ft you have less than a second to react. It really doesn't give you much time to fix the problem.

At 158 mph lots of things can occur, some will be no problem and others could be a very serious problem, things that we don't even want to think about.

my 2 cents
