I have a set if LG Longtube Headers on order from LG who has them on sale . I am debating on having them coated. I like the looks of Jet Hot but I am also looking into Swain Tech Coating. Swain looks like some serious coating but comes only in white ceramic. This sould not be a problem unless you live under the car. Has anyone had experience with Swain coating or other coatings on their headers. Is coatings worth the cost. The LG header is SS so rust is not an issue. Reduction of radient heat & increase in HP would be my concern.
I did not have mine coated before installation and the under hood temps as recorded by the IAT sensor increased quite allot after installing headers. I would recommend coating, however with no experience with either company I can't help you there.
I think I am going to do the Swain coating only because they have the thicker .015 Ceramic layer for a thermal barrier. If your intake air temp. increased 10 F HP dropped 1% as per the swain web site www.swaintech.com/header.html The Jet-Hot are great/better looking but they are not as good a thermal barrier. The other good thing about Swain is they are about 50 miles or less from my house in Scottsville NY. Jet-Hot is in Pascagoula, MS.

I think Brett has a good point. Lowering IAT is HP. IAT increases and all the tuneing changes. Looks is not a big deal after the header is installed. Performance is the reason we spend almost $2000 on headers. Has members coated their headers?
The way I understand it, coating 100% of the inside of a bent tube is not possible unless you dip the header into the coating. This type of coating would need to be paint based not ceramic.
