okay i think i've had it with this car!, 6 months & like 5 times to the shop.
i got it back like 3 days ago from the shop because of the rear end blew off, it's been in my garage just siting there for 3 days, today was the first day that was nice with no rain, i pull out of the garage go about 1/2 to the carwash & REDUCE ENGINE POWER!!!! whats with this crap? no power? i think i''m done with vettes
I would order a Diablo Sport Programmer or HP tuners software and scan the codes in the computer. Something on the ECU is causing this issue. Good Luck and I hope you solve your issue with the car. I had a 1996 Cobra Mustang was in the shop 22 times in 5 1/2 months for many problems from the motor to the rearend.
What I have found it usually comes down to the mechanic. If you can find one at a dealer that really loves vettes and just works on vettes. They will find and fix any problem. You may have a lemon but don't give up yet. Good Luck!!!
"Reduced Engine Power" is supposed to be one of the safety measures to run on only 4 cylinders when you are in a severe overheating situation.
However, there are times when the electronics freak out and it throws this message. When I've seen it, it was also accompanied by "Service Traction System". For this problem, my vette has been in the shop 8 times and 40+ some odd days. Presently, it has been in the shop for a week, and maybe they can get it fixed before Thanksgiving.
When you are running in Reduced Engine Power, it is dangerously slow. A Cavalier can accelerate about 4X as fast. One time in Shreveport I was in REP mode and an ambulance was coming from behind, so I pulled over and let it pass. During lunchtime traffic, it was dangerous to try to pull over, and then pull back into the left lane so I could merge on the interstate.
It's a long shot but check the battery voltage without the car running or just put it on charge for an hour or so. I had some strange error codes after installing headers. The problem turned out to be a low battery. It had enough power to start the engine however there was a problem on the LAN with the reduced power.
When I did the install I had the FOB in my pocket so the car never fully went into sleep mode. I worked on it in the evenings and it took two days to complete. I would imagine with yours being in the shop a few days with the FOB near it then sitting for 3 days could be just enough to drain the battery causing communication problems.

Thats got to be frustrating. Not to make light of your situation but I hate it when people start talking about "lemons" and "lemon laws". Sometimes it is better to look at other things. Like the last things which were done to the car before it started screwing up.
There were two.
1. The dealer just put a new rear end into the car.
2. I seem to recall............Didn't you recently have some ECM tuning with LS2 edit just before your rear end went?
Do you know what all was done in the tuning? What all was changed? I recall you saying that "torque management" had been removed. When this is done aren't certain tables zeroed out and values changed???? Could this be related to your reduced power snafu.
Perhaps having the ECM flashed back to stock might be a route to take for starters.
Maybe I am barking up the wrong tree here...........but do you guys remember that Cartek module which was supposed to remove torque management????? Some guys said that it did something to the A/H system. One wheel or another.
If thats out of kilter, could that cause a reduced power situation?
Could it be that tune??????

i'll agree there's an electrical issue of sorts. i'd start off checking the battery, then the charging system, then the rest of the electrical, looking for leaks etc., check the spark plugs and boots. sometimes they don't get seated, especially if you don't use the grease, and will actually come loose. can easily happen when switching to headers, etc.
the computer will do all sorts of odd things if it's voltage isn't right.
So why did the rear end blow in the first place ? I think maybe someone has altered your vehicle and maybe thats why its screwing up ?
Mods are fine, but a warrenty is better.
i just installed a new battery about 2 weeks ago, & when i went to pick it up from chevrolet it was in "R" the chevrolet dealer had about 5 Corvettes There so i think they know about that Parking in "R".
Happened to me once with accomipanied with "Service active handling"
It was right after I went through a deep puddle.
I think the electronics got 2 wet. it went away later that day and never came back.
I noticed u said u went to the car wash. Did this happen after?
If so, It sounds similar to my siutation. electronic sensors got wet....

My battery drained to low levels in reverse and properly shut down. Since the RCDLR is the backup power management I believe that the car wakes up and looks for a signal from the ignition switch every time the FOB is near. So every time this happened while in the shop and sitting for 3 days in your garage there was a slight drain on the battery. I do not think your battery is bad just not fully charged. Did you check the voltage with the car not running? If it has been started recently you should wait at least an hour for the voltage to stabilize. Have you had the error since? If it has not occurred again it might simply be that you have driven the car enough to fully charge the battery.
My car did that! Along with a bunch of other stuff. I had the oil cooler line come off on the way home from writing the check and the car left me on the side of the road for 3 1/2 hours waiting for roadside assitance that never showed up.
To make a long story short, the oil got into the wiring harness, so everytime I drove it, a warning light came on.
I hope to get my replacement car before Christmas, but now my wife just laughs when she see a Corvette or drives by a GM dealership. This was the only GM car in my "fleet" of five vehicles and the only one that requires a fully charged cell phone when you leave the house.
That happened on both of my c5's just out of nowhere. It would fix itself and not come back for a long time. One time I had to disconnect then reconnect the battery. These Corvettes are haunted.
Its hit and miss. I bought a Honda Accord new in 99 and it never saw the dealer again or any shop for that matter. My 2001 C5 same thing; 4 years and not a single thing wrong....this C6 POS....3 times to the dealer:
Heated seat
Rear hatch Button
Stereo
