From those that have changed out the 6sp fluid what's you opinion. Any issues with the warrantee?

As long as it has Dextron lll on the container the warrantee should be fine. I always use Synthetic, I assume this is. I normally lean towards Mobile 1 since it's more available to purchase. Ratings are slightly higher for Amsoil but you can't go to the store and buy it. You have to become a dealer or find a dealer. When I was comparing oils a few years ago Royal Purple was not really in the mix much. It was Mobile 1, Amsoil & Redline. At least at that time Royal Purple was being marketed more to companies that had fleet. I think they were saying it was Purple in color which I definitely wouldn't like because I judge what's going on with the oil by it's color. If it's real dark when you put it in it's hard to read what's going on with it. Just my 02 worth.

AMSOIL can easily be ordered online, either at retail:

or wholesale (about 25% under retail):

FYI, AMSOIL product for the transmission, which I use on the track, is the AMSOIL ATF.

Sales via my dealership, which includes the banner link to the left (which takes you direct to the AMSOIL Online Store tagging you as a customer of my dealership), benefit my Corvette raceteam and this forum.
Thanks for the info but as the title says I was looking for people that tried royal purple, not a sales pitch for your company, you can delete your post anytime

Pipedream,
Didn't mean to hijack your thread. I was actually trying to clear up confusion for Blackmagic as he may be interested in AMSOIL (as indicated in his response, not your original post) but didn't know it was available via the forum.

I installed it and simply love it. From what I can determine, meets the minimum GM spec. Also, it beats Redline, which I previously used in my WS6 Trans Am...

Thanks for the info, I haven't looked into oil for a few years, sounds like it's easier to get now. I'll probably keep using Mobile 1. Even though it's not rated as high, synthetic oils are so good that I'm sure it's plenty good enough. Plus I change it every 3300 miles.

Ed,
I switched to Royal Purple in the tranny and rear end. The tranny is much smoother especially in the cooler AM, notchiness is gone. $9.00 a qt. Rayco 4 for both ATF Syncromax tranny and 75w90 synethic rear oil. I added 4 oz. of GM posi-oil to the rear. Probably not needed since the 75W90 already contains posi fluid. Total cost about $68. As for warranty issues, could always switch back, but don't believe it will ever be necessary. (May be able to get RP cheaper on the internet)
Coming to you from sunny Arizona.

Just about to do the same: Have Royal Purple Synchromax for the tranny and Max Gear (75W90) for the diffy. Planning to do the fluid swap this weekend!

I'm using the Mobil 1 ATF in the transmission and 75W90 gear lube in the differential. The ATF is fine, it meets all the GM specs. There is some question about the gear lube; this isn't a new question, it's been kicked around on some truck forums. GM specifies the Texaco "grape yum-yum" oil and quotes a specification (9986115) that nobody seems to explicitly say they meet. I suppose I should get a copy of that spec and see what it says, but I haven't found a GM source for it. It's available from Global, but paying $30 for a 2-page document sort of chaps my butt, and then there's the question of it saying anything that makes sense or that I can translate.

Of course mostly this would only become an issue if a dealer denies a warranty claim because of the lubricant, that's not too likely as long as it's something reasonable (don't fill the differential with 3-in-1 oil).

If you want to play it safe, use any ATF rated "DEXRON III" and "H specification" in the transmission and GM grape coolaid with GM limited slip additive in the differential. The GM stuff is $25 a quart.

Personally, I'm going to try the Royal Purple in the transmission to see if it feels any smoother. The Mobil 1 smooths it out a bit, but it sounds like the RP does more good. May try Red Line too, what the heck.
