Quote: I have the Corsa Sport with quad tips and believe IMO it will be tough to find a better sound. Outside exhaust has tremendous muscle car sound but not offensive, inside no drone.
Saplumr: I too have the Corsa Sports with quad tips and feel exactly the same way you do about the system-seems just about right, eh? However, I do have one question for you: do you have an x-pipe installed? I don't and was wondering about doing so-not having any sound problems but I have heard the x-pipe gives you a little more torque in the low end-what do you think? Is that true? I was thinking about changing the the body plate just above where the x-pipe would go for a little more heat insulation and that would also be the best time to change to an x-pipe setup-if its really worth it?

Quote: Have you compared them to the bullets and, if so, how would you compare the two from the outside/inside?
Yes sir I have....and there really is no comparison. The Bullets sound AWESOME...I mean shake the earth, wake the neighbors, scare away the ricers AWESOME. They are very loud, very aggressive. It is an awesome (think NASCAR) sound, a sound you had better enjoy because you are gonna hear a lot of it, both in and out of the cabin. It is a great product, but not for everybody. Very aggressive option, but a great choice.

where is the rank for magnaflow?
Just wondering why magnaflow is not mentioned here. Are they that baadddd or nobody knows magnaflow?

Quote: You really should go to a Vette meet and hear the exhaust outside the car and then make sure you ride in it before you decide. Interior noise will probably make or break whether you made a good decision. If you have an automatic than you must be real careful on the interior noise. With an automatic you are in the drone zone more often than not. I have ridden in a C6 with Corsa sports. The sound of Corsa (European sound) does nothing for me personally but many people on this forum like it. Corsa is known for no drone or resonance inside the car (which is a good thing) and after having ridden in one I agree. If you go Borla you must decide whether you want Borla Stinger or Borla Touring. Borla Stinger is much more aggressive than Corsa and much louder than stock and in my opinion sounds great (muscle car sound). I drove a C6 with Stingers and your previously quiet interior will be much louder. Was a little too loud inside for me and thought it would become annoying after a while. Only your personal taste can decide what interior noise level is tolerable for you. Borla Touring is not much louder than stock but has a much better tone than stock (same as Stinger only quieter). For what is worth I have Borla Touring on my H2 and it sounds great inside and outside the vehicle. By the way Borla Touring is the same as the performance exhaust offered by GM for the C6. I personally went with GHL for my C6 but am still waiting for them to be shipped (3 weeks after being ordered). GHL's are very similar to Borla Stinger however are a better quality build (IMO) and are slightly quieter. You really need to find out for yourself what is best for you. Here is my ranking from quietest to loudest of some of the more popular systems. B&B, Borla, and GHL all have the muscle car sound, although each have a distinct note. Corsa Touring and Sport are very European sounding.

Quietest = Stock
Corsa Touring
Corsa Sport
Borla Touring
B&B Route 66
GHL
Borla Stinger
Loudest = B&B Bullets

Good luck! It took me 4 months to decide and am still not sure I made the right decision.

Have never heard Magnaflows and don't know much about them so I didn't list them. I didn't think they were that popular on Corvettes but I noticed on the Exhaust poll in the General Discussion they are more popular than I thought.

I do not have the X pipe. Before I made my decision on which system to purchase I spoke to several people and all said I would not be happy with the X pipe as far as the sound I was looking for.

Quote: With all due respect saplumr, the Corsa's are a great product for the right person. But you can HARDLY consider them a muscle car sound, at least according to most ears. The Corsa sports create a great wail, but they are widely considered more of a european sound (ala ferrari, porsche, BMW). Line up a hundred Corvette/sports car/muscle car enthusiasts, hit the loud pedal on your Corsa's and my GHL's and my bet is 90% or more consider the GHL's more "late 60's muscle car era". That IS NOT to say 90% would like the sound of mine better, but would consider it more "muscle". Corsa makes an awesome product, with a very unique sound, and as far as I can tell the only 100% drone free aftermarket exhaust. Nice choice!

I also like to listen to the radio once in a while.

Borla's with X Pipe in a Vert
Most everything stated in previous posts are correct. Most importantly the statement SUBJECTIVE.

I have had the pleasure of driving several exhaust variants, each have there mission. I chose the Borla system based on several points;

Quality of craftsmanship
Measured restriction Vs Sound output
Appearance ** does stick out beyond rear fascia **
Quality of sound, sports car sound not just a loud hot rod rumble.

My car is a vert Z51 MN6, with the top down the sound is very pleasing to me and my wife (attention getter / conversation topic).
With the top up and expressway cruising there is a bit of a drone. But, the wife and I have taken several 500 mile trips no asperin required.

Good luck on your choice, search your local vette speed shop ask opinions and you might have examples in there garage.

I first instaled the borla stinger (agressive) without x pipe and thjought it was perfect. quiet inside with a nice growl outside. you will never regret this choice trust me,I should have done it the day I got the car. I have since completed the exhaust system with LG long tube headers random technology cats-x pipe connected to my borlas. this may be a little more volume than some people would care for.It turned out a little louder than I originally planned on but it really isnt that bad. when cruising on the hiway you can hardly hear the exhaust in the background but when you get on it hard it sounds fantastic! but a little loud.I never hear what it really sounds like outside beceause im always in the car but everyone and I mean everyone I ask says the car sounds really great and not to change it.in the end I am quite pleased with it. like I said my combination may be more than your looking for---but Im sure a borla stinger with the x pipe would be purrrfect!

Quote: The wife wants to buy me an exhaust for my 06 vert I would appreciate feedback from owners of both (sound, resonance,etc.)
My feedback is that you're lucky. My wife would have said,"no mods".

I had my sports installed on Friday and I love the way that they sound. They have a quite ride while running down the road but you can hear them when I open it up. I have gotten quite a few looks while jumping on it from a dead stop at the light. One thing that I do like about them is they sound nothing like the kids and their flow master GT’s

Just got the Borla Stingers with X-Pipe installed on Friday and driven over 200 miles on them... 1st impression... damn I love that sound... 2nd impression damn I really love that sound.... about the 10th time it did hit me: damn this thing IS much louder than stock ;-)... and yes there is definetly some resonance between 1200-1800 rpms which is more noticeable around 1600 rpms with low throttle input... if you have a manual you shouldnt even be in that range and with an A4 the only time you will notice is in heavy traffic going on an uphill.... I drive heavy stop and go traffic for an hour and would say after 3 or 4 I would need aspirin exhaust or no exhaust!!!

I didnt realize how much BIGGER the exhaust ports are on Borla compared to stock - really look nice and fill out the rear end...

As everyone has said though: its subjective... and one thing is for sure - you are NOT going to get that awesome deep V8 muscle car sound with NO resonance inside... some less some more its a matter of compromising one for the other.. guess you could try stuffing 300 pounds of noice deadening back there ;-)

home made cake
best solution to have a really performer exhaust: LG long tube headers plus x pipe, home made side exhaust both tubes on left aproching side of the car just front of rear wheel, you could build for each tube a round muffler slighter larger dia then the empy tube, this will give you the real enthusiast V8 rumble you'll ever be able to get.
i have this sistem made on my griff V8 5.lt and it looks and sound the business....as soon i'll get mid next year (hopefully) my C6Z i'll do it streight away .
