most long tubes come with an X-pipe so does this mean if you wanted to do exhaust also that you dont really need a cat back system. can you get away with just buying a rear section?
Your question in reference to exhaust and rear section is a little confusing.
If you install long tube headers you will loose your orginal cat converter.
So most will replace with a high flow cat and x-pipe.
The rear section........ is the mufflers and tail pipes.
You can run long tube headers (with or without a cat) then x-pipe and connect to stock mufflers and tail pipes. I would run a cat.
Replacing the rear section (mufflers and tail pipes) is not required it is a personal choice based on sound levels, the choice is yours.
I've got the LG long tubes with the RT cats bolted up to the Borla stinger aggressive cat back....smooth as glass install....the LG's come with their own X-pipe and everything fits perfectly.....we didn't use the x-pipe that comes with the borla's....let me know if anyone is interested in buying it....it is unused.....
as dyno dan said he bought the headers that came with an X-pipe so the X-pipe from the catback became useless. this is what im trying to avoid.
so i can get long tubes with x-pipe and rear section and have a complete system?
I think the confusion is that what is refered to as a "cat back" isn't actually a cat back on these cars. They consist of the tips, mufflers, and the over-axle pipes. X pipes are sold seperately from them.
No you don't. The stock over-axle pipes hook up to either the factory H-pipe or an aftermarket X-pipe in the same exact way. I'm pretty sure that there's some members who run long tubes with the X-pipe and stock mufflers.
Just did this yesterday headers cats silp over header outlet X-pipe slips over cat outlet factory over axle tubes slip over x-pipe outlet . The only problem you might run into would be a smaller or larger size pipe. I dont know if all c-6 have a 3"rear exhaust system . The one I did had 3" .

I have Dynatech Headers, Cats and X-pipe connected to the stock exhaust. There is nothing special needed it all bolts up right out of the box.
The LG's are great and they come with the x-pipe...which you should use....I purchaced the Borla Stinger AGGRESSIVE system for Don's car....but, we decided not to use the x-pipe that came with it because it meant not using the LG "x" pipe....I don't believe that you can purchace the Stinger AGGRESSIVE exhaust without the x-pipe....they come together as one part number and only the x pipe is available seperately. The non agressive cat back does not come with it....
Hope this Helps...

Yes you can. The X-pipes that comes with Long Tubes will fit your factory or an aftermarket rear section. Borla and Corsa have just the rear section.
When you purchase our headers we suggest our x pipe. The x pipe that we sell is far better then a stamped one it helps scavenge the exhaust flow on a much cleaner transition. The headers and x pipe come with all the parts you need to goto the rear pipes in the car.

the rear pipes of the car=as in the over the axle pipe?
i am wanting to put long tubes, xpipe, and borla stinger rear section together and am trying to figure out if that will allow a complete setup
I don't know guys. With that 4.10 gearing anything could be possible as far as running low 11's. Perhaps high 11's. I give Dyno Don the benefit of the doubt.
