What kind of hp and torque is the '06 diff rated to handle? Is there anything to watch out for with the limited slip?

My question concerns only the case, not the innards.
What differences were made to the case from 2004 C5 to 2005 C6. There have been several reports of failed cases, but I cannot imagine going from a stronger to a weaker unit by design. I guess what I'm asking is: could the failures be related to defective castings, or was the design altered in some way?
Is the 06 casing stronger than 05, and is it the same for regular car and Z06?
