Default Brake Pad Help

I'm preparing for my first HPDE event ( ) and need some help. I'm going to swap out my factory brake pads on my base c6 and drop in some c5 z06 pads. My question is, how much different are the componds on these pads? Am I safe using the stock rotors??? Or is this a big

Using C5 Z06 pads won't harm your stock rotors. I've been using those pads on my car for a while now, including 3 trips to the MotorSport Ranch.

Actually my concern is using a pad made of a different compound on my rotors that have already been "bedded" with the factory brake pad material.

From my understanding (I could be wrong)...
Similar compounds on same rotor = should be OK
Dis-similar compounds on same rotor = reduced braking

Just don't know how different these pads are from each other

I understand your concern. I was not able to find out exactly what the C5 Z06 pad compound is.

I have gone from the stock C6 Z51 pad, to the C5 Z06 pad, to the "new" C6 Z51 pad, & back to the C5 Z06 pad. All on the same rotor, 1 trip to MSR on the original Z51 pads, and 2 trips on the C5 Z06 pads (once each install).

Follow bedding instructions on each swap.

Thanks If you didn't notice a reduction of braking then you've just easied some of my worries.

How would you rate the c6 z51 pads to the c5 z06 pads???

The C5 Z06 pads have much better bite, but they do dust more & squeak a bit. Much more confident braking, took 2 seconds off my lap time.
