Default Outside temp display

Had my 05 in the shop getting some mods. Noticed on the drive home that the outside temperature display was stuck on 75 degrees. I assume this is some kind of sensor that may have been affected during the mods install. Anyone ever do a fix on one of these? Or do you have any suggestions? Thanks guys.

The OS temp display is software buffered. It is explained in the O.M. The display reading can only increase at a certain slew rate, based on vehicle speed. This is to held avoid incorrect reading while stopped or driving slow due, to heat radiation from the radiator, when there is insufficient air flow over the thermisitor.

Check the outside air temp sensor (was on the lower passenger side of the radiator shroud on the C5) may be the same on the C6? It was a small sensor that was clipped into the shroud connected to a wiring harness.

How long did it take you to drive home and at what speed? Here's what the 2005 owner's manual says on pages 3-27 & 3-28.

There is also a sensor located behind the front bumper.
This sensor reads the outside air temperature and
helps to maintain the temperature inside the vehicle.
Any cover on the front of the vehicle could give a false
reading in the temperature.

If the outside temperature goes up, the displayed
temperature will not change until:
• The vehicle’s speed is above 10 mph (16 km/h)
five minutes.
• The vehicle’s speed is above 32 mph (52 km/h) for
two and a half minutes.
These delays prevent false readings. If the temperature
goes down, the outside temperature will be shown
when you start the vehicle. If it has been turned off for
less than three hours, the temperature will be recalled
from the previous vehicle operation.

My drive home after the mods install was 300 miles through all kinds of temps. I am wondering if this is a fixable thing, or do I need to replace the sensor? I don't know where it is located. Thanks.

Hmmm, I thought I replied to the post this morning...
Oh well, I will again now:
Cajun is 100% correct.
The same thing happened to me when I installed my cam. My temp was stuck on the temp from the last time I started my car.
I am 99.99% sure your sensor is either unplugged or went bad, I'd bet the house on it being unplugged. It's a simple fix.

Open the hood. On the passenger side about 3/4 way down the fan schroud. It is a two wire probe type sensor that inserts through the fan schroud. 1 plastic rivit holds it in place. Easy to mess up if you had the fan schroud out for MODS.
