C6 with Onstar

I'm considering getting an 06 C6. I was reading an article in Chevy HighPerformance that before a Jet programmer can be downloaded that the OnStar fuse must be taken out. As they put it, "so the good samaritans don't find out". Does anyone know what the ramifications of doing this without taking out the fuse would be? Or, after downloading the jet programmer can you put the fuse back in and if so do the OnStar police know you've changed the computer?
