I would err on the side of caution.
Factory AC Delco filter (UPF 44 if you can find one) and recommended change interval on the oil.
GM 4718M spec oil.
Why not Mobil 1?
I'm changing mine more often. If I had a Geo, I might reconsider.

I maintain my schedule of changing the oil every 3k (I use Redline Synthetic in my C6). I have always done this and my vehicles live strong. When I sold my 96 I took a compression check and the readings where he same as my first check when I bought the car 9 years earlier.
All synthetic, all the time.
My personal schedule is"
Oil 3k
Transmission and differential every year
Lube and grease once a year
Minor lube (hindges etc.) every 6 months
I keep all my receipts and make notes of what I perform myself.
