Went to my sister's home for Christmas - about 70 miles away. When I started the engine up to come home the check engine light came on. Since I have recently modded the car with cam, heads and tune I assume the computer is just throwing out a code. No problems all the way home. But how do I get the engine light to turn off? Thanks.

If the MIL (malfunction Indicator Lamp) or check engine lamp is on steady, it indicates a current fault. When the fault condition is corrected, the light will go out. Sometimes, cycling the ignition will reset or clear the condition.
Since you modded the car with cam, heads, you may need a PCM edit.

You are still going to want to find out what that code is. I wouldn't just turn the check engine light off. I'd take it to whomever tuned it following the heads and cam swap and let them have a look to see what codes come up.

600 miles round trip is a bit far for something which might be minor. Can you get someone local to look at it?
On Jan. 3 my wife and I are taking a trip which will include a stop at the shop which did the mods. I hope driving 300 miles will not prove to be a problem. I'll call him tomorrow and see what he says about the drive down.

Is there any way that you could at least get the A/F ratios checked locally before you go?
I'd hate for it to be running way lean and you try and make a 300 mile road trip.
If she is running lean then you could have it trailered or towed to the tuner as opposed to trying to drive it.

Hey pal...CHECK THE CODES! the manual that came with your car will show you how to get he codes from the spedo/trip console....using a combination of buttons, you can check all pcm codes for all of the modules.....and clear them if you like...
Get back to us with some code numbers....we'll be watching!
I spoke with Andy today at A&A Corvettes who did the mods. He said the computer is not reading the new setup with the mods. He said not to worry and to drive it down (300 miles) and he would take care of it. He also said that if other codes were showing up such as temp, oil, etc, then he would worry. But the engine light is typical when mods of this kind are done. We will be going down there on Jan. 3, and then on to San Diego. I'll let you know what happens and what work is done. Thanks for all the input.

I don't think you can do that on a C6. I know you could on a C5.
