Bill, running the LG's with cats with stock mufflers. Installed them yesterday and so far, the interior noise is unchanged, maybe a smidge louder. Acceleration noise is louder but not unbearable.
Took 3 hours start to finish. I tired looking at the directions somebody posted, but wound up throwing them away.
Still got the OE, but will probably make this my first real performance mod. I can't see playing around with catbacks because that is just noise. It seems to me that a good set of headers will provide better sound and will improve HP/throttle response......
Unfortunately, I have no idea which one to buy , so this thread might be good.

LG's for me this time the Kooks take to long to install, at least they did in the C5.
Everything that was in the way on a C5 for the headers has been moved for on the C6. There is space galore and everything is mounted from the underside.
Jeff - did you have to use a lift to do yours? I am thinking of getting a set this spring and I used to be a gearhead but I don't wrench my own cars anymore (other than oil change). Can you do this changeover with RAMPS and what special tools are needed - do you need to cut the old exhaust or is it just bolt / unbolt?
What's the story on the coating? I know it keeps things cooler, but is it worth the bother?
Cooler (engine and tunnel), looks (what you can see), more power (about five, according to Jet Hot), helps light the cats faster (protects against throwing codes).

It's fairly straight forward with the kit from LGM. Everything is included in the kit down to the new bolts for the manifolds.
You could do it on ramps, but it is much easier on a lift, as with ramps you would need something to stand on while you unbolt/bolt items.
The only special tools I would recomend are a O2 socket and also a hole saw so you can cut into the center plate to run the new O2 harnesses.
I am very happy with the quality of the Dynatech Supermaxx headers. The fit and finish appears to be as good or slightly better than the other brands I have seen.
Everything needed is included in the kit. I also did not need to drill the tunnel plate to route the 02 wires. There are clamps included to hold them in place using the tunnel plate bolts.
Make sure if you have a 6 speed that you buy the version for the 6 speed manual. There are several companies that are clearing out the auto only models right now so if you have an auto it would be a great time to buy.
I was able to install them using only "Race Ramps" in the front and "Rhino Ramps" in the rear. However I would recommend using a lift if possible.
Hey guys. New to this forum.
I have LG's w/cats still in box and I will install in about 2 weeks. Race results have proven they are a darn good header. Also adding Halltech. I cannot wait to finally "hear" what a V8 sounds like. Tune/dyno @ A&A next. GHL exaust to follow. Love the deep muscle car sound of GHL w/headers Cannot wait for the additional torque!!!
