Maybe i'm being stupid but just got my new C6 2005 auto, I just want to know if anyone knows will the car switch off if you are driving along & knock the start button by accident? I just thinking doing 70 mph & that happens you may end up in trouble!
I tried driving in my garage & switching the car off in drive which it did turn off with the car in drive! And to start again you have to put the car in park & press the brake but this was at zero mile an hour, So it may have a safety fitted to it does anybody know??
I'm in England so not to many of us have a C6 yet!

Yes it will shut off while driving if you press the bottom of the rocker switch. To restart, you have to shift into Neutral or Park. I do not recommend Park if you are rolling.

The motor just stops, push the go button and it starts back up without engaging the starter, kind of eerie. Tried this since there were reports that the engine would shut off if you accidentely hit the button. Sure enough, it does.

Damn you're a brave sole. But, I do thank you. You just saved me from having to leave the warmth and comfort of my den to go try it for myself.
When my POS was going through all kinds of intermittent electrical gremlins, I tried it in hopes that things would work when I restarted.
I made sure I was on a very straight stretch of road, put it in neutral, hit the stop button, I thought I felt column lock but I didn't wait long enough to be sure, hit the start button, and then put it back in D. When it was turned off, I may have felt increased steering resistance from no power steering assist instead of column lock.
