C6 automatic transmissions red-line speeds for each gear (both 4 and 6 speed tranies) . Does anyone have this sort of data? If so, please forward it to me. Thank you very much. Al Payne
I wish you knew what speed 6500 rpm's in third would be. I still have not gotten a straight answer on whether you finish the qtr mile in third of fourth.
http://www.eorsr.us/c6 - click on the gear in the A6 row / 2.56 column. These charts are calculated based on published data for new tires and may vary a little from measured speeds. 6500 RPM in 3rd would be about 130 MPH, so you should finish the quarter in 3rd.

Great, thank you. Question, what would be redline mph with a 2.73 and a 3.15 rear end on the A6?
Jim that may be the way it calculates but look at my above post. That is reality with 2.56's and there is no way you are going to run 11mph faster going to a taller gear.
Terry-
My typo, I meant to say calculated speeds with 2.56 axle.
Buffy must have used a slightly different calculator but those speeds are within a couple of mph of the program i used.
Thanks for posting a "real world" number. Let us know if you get to try that on the road.

There are different realities. Tires rolling on rollers aren't the same reality as tires rolling on a road.
Dyno instrumentation isn't perfect and tires deflect more on rollers than on the the road so the rolling radius decreases a bit.
The differences seem reasonable and are in the direction that they would be expected to be.
Thanks, that is what I needed, primarily I am interested in top end in third gear for drag racing. Looks like a 2.73 would be ideal for a near stock setup. But not sure it would be worth the cost for such a slight change.

I have been an indicated 125+ in 3rd, not sure on exact rpm, I think the speedo is playing catch up so the indicated speed is most likely 3-5mph off while accelerating???

Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
Slideshow: A Jaguar designer's personal project imagines what a modern front-engined Corvette might look like if Chevrolet revisited the golden age of the Stingray.
