Default 05 Vettes w/wrong BCM

I noticed a posting elsewhere of GM warning that some Caddy BCMs (15216952 ) were being shipped in 2005 Vette BCM (15216908) boxes and getting installed in Vettes. Causing, I assume something to happen. I presume this is at the dealer level not assembly level. I presume... does anyone know about this? The BCMs must look the same because the only way they can be identified is by part #

My secondary thought here is that the Caddy & A4 '05 systems may be so similar that the wrong BCM may not be an issue, but with the Mn '05, could this be contributing to DBS?

Just a thought.

That would be interesting if this is what's causing DBS.

Well, the BCM is what needs to wake up the vehicle as I understand it. Anyway, it would be easy to check out. We would need someone with repeated cases of DBS to check the part number of their BCM. Here's the quote:

05 Chevrolet Corvette and 04 - 05 Cadillac XLR Replacing the BCM for Service

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in the PI.

Service VME
Dealers have reported receiving BCMs improperly packaged. The BCM part number on the box does not match the BCM contained in the box. It has been determined that service BCMs for these vehicles may have been mis-packaged by the supplier. The effected part numbers are 15216952 which is for 2004-2005 XLR and part number 15216908 which is for the 2005 Corvette. When servicing these applications please ensure that the part number on the packaging matches the label on BCM contained in the package. If your dealership encounters a mismatch situation, do not install the BCM. Contact SPO and obtain a correct BCM from the parts department.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.

Models:
(05 Chevrolet Corvette) and (04 - 05 Cadillac XLR)

If this is so then there is no need to worry about getting an o5 Corvette from the factory with the Cadillac BCM? Just a packaging problem not an assembly line problem?

From what I gather by this warning, it seems so. But the incorrect packaging was caught by dealers and does that mean it was never a problem at assembly time? Again, there was a change in BCM sometime during production (see my posting above). Is it possible they also shipped mislabeled BCMs to factory, as it is an outside supplier? What I'm saying is, it probably doesn't hurt to check. Mine is correct. Apparently they look exactly the same.

Thanks
