I took it out because I could never feel the clutch engage and read so many posts that if you remove it you can feel the clutch which you can. It feels so much better out than in. Anyway it now it make noise when first depressed just wondering if this is normal with it removed and would like responses from others that removed it as well.

Well good news, the noise went away, guess I need to drive it more than out of the garage and then back in. The clutch is a bit stiffer and will agree, about 35% stiffer, the way it should be out of the factory. I love it! I can now feel the clutch engage and do no longer feel that the car is driving me.

How much trouble would it be to reinstall it if you get tired of no spring?
I have a bone stock 2006 Z51 MN6... I think the clutch pedal / effort is perfect. I would never touch the spring. This is a comment coming from someone who previously owned a 455 Super Duty Trans Am with a high performance clutch. The C6 clutch feel is indeed lighter than the old beast, but certainly not "too light". Any typical foriegn car I've ever driven has had a lighter clutch.
I think my `06 C6 clutch feels excellent... I wouldn't want it any other way. I am wondering if anything was changed from 2005 to 2006? Maybe GM did some fine tuning to the clutches / springs etc for `06 ??? You guys have `05s, right? Is the pedal spring part number the same for `06 as in `05?
I thought I remember reading a post at the forum here that quoted a section from a C6 service manual or service bulletin, stating something to the effect that if the pedal spring is NOT in place, some level of clutch damage could occur. Anyone know about this? I can't seem to find it now. It may have been in a troubleshooting section... said something like "if the clutch is damaged, check for possible cause being a broken clutch pedal spring... etc...".. something to this effect.
I'm keeping my spring in place.
If anything, maybe a lighter spring could be swapped in... or maybe the existing spring could be modified to provide a little less pressure...? Probably better than no spring at all.
I think someone had reported the clutch was more prone to the "sticking to the floor syndrome" when the spring was out.
The clutch did take some time to get used to since it is really hard to feel when it is going to engage but after a while you will get used to it and learn the car better.
