Default Best performace mods for $5000??

I was seriously concidering a supercharger, but I don't know if I want to spend $7000 on one... I'm also thinking when more kits get released prices will start coming down. What could I get for $5000? I was thinking headers, cam, intake, tune? Help me spend some $$

Strongly recommend coordinating with an experienced tuner shop and plan out your mods. For that type of money, or maybe just a little more, you should be able to get a good package installed. A good tuner can recommend mods that will fully compliment each other and also leave room for additions later on that will compliment the present mods.

Air INtake 400
Long Tube 1700
Cam 500
Underdrive Pulley 250
And a rear differential 3.90 if you have a manual 1600

That will put you right at 5k with installation. You will have some serious ets... or you could put heads or fast intake in place of rear differential. Really all depends on what you want.

Depends on what you do with your car...
Street, Road Race, Drag race, etc...
Do you want big dyno numbers or low ET's?
Is this a daily driver?

It's a daily driver, my wife actually drives the car most of the time. I'd love to have a wild cam but not on this car. I want lotsa power, no racing, maybe 1-2 drag events. Thanks guys!

If your wife drives it then leave it alone. Save the money and put it down on a vette for yourself to have and then mod it. The stock power is enough for anyone to drive as a daily driver. IF you will not be driving it most of the time then why would you want to mod it if you not get the rewards.

I wouldnt put anything on to compromise the warrenty and its ability as a daily driver, Id say intake, catback, and some show goodies painted FRCs, wheels, etc. I think if you mod a DD heavily you will just be opening up a can "o" worms, even longtubes might throw some codes until you get it tuned then you have to worry about other things breaking from the tune

since youre not going to benefit all the time from the mods, and being a daily driver I say you just put a cat-back and possibly a midpipe to give it some extra *****....

well if you do a cam the install price is about the same

headers make the car sound louder

intake is marginal; if it rains and daily driver then avoid bottom breathers

for 5K I'd add headers, air intake, FAST90 manifold, under-drive and upgrade the brake pads. There are some good numbers at LGs site...

Add a couple thousand dollars and have Lingenfelter guarantee you 500 HP and it comes with a 24 month, 24,000 mile warranty. Top quality and who else does the 24/24,000?

She drives it daily... I drive it on our days off. I've also got a C5 that I drive every once and a while. I've just gotta itch for more power! I'd be in a Z06 if it was aval. in a vert. Leaning back towards the SC route... LOL

install a callaway honker intake, double d exhaust, 90mm thottle body and ls 2 edit and have fun!!!! The exhaust and intake are on sale to forum members so this can all be had for under $2,000 if you do the work. And the car runs and sounds great with the top up or down. Just drive it like you stole it and enjoy

yah, but that's 500hp at the flywheel; which is back computed from the chassis dyno...

...which looks like 405hp; if I were to hazard a guess. Also, the way they cut up the engine; they'd need to warranty it. It looks like the don't warranty the maggie install

You know on their list of parts they don't have any headers; I wonder whose headers they recommend. I guess stock headers/cat's are good enough.

Same as the other 100 times this question got asked.....heads, gears, and a cam

Exhaust and air cleaners do nothing for performance.

headers are good but not as good as the above 3.

what kind of HP would you get from heads, headers, and cams alone?
