Depending on where you live will tell if you need one first of all. I live in boston where it is about 20 degrees everyday except summer so I want my car to heat up for the heat on the inside. Next there are two types one with housing and one without. Tyberne has one for about 17 dollars and that is without the housing. The others are 70 dollars with housing. Just be causes because you will not get that much hp from this modification. Some have reported 2-3 hp and you will never feel that except in your head. Hope that helps

Nothing is wrong with it, but tuners usually try to tune your car on the dyno when the car cools down, you can throw more timing to a cooler motor. If you tune it hot, you can keep the hotter stat. As far as HP differences, without a tune, probably none, especially since the fans wont be adjusted for the lower temp.

there is only one style for the LS2. The other style is for the LS1/LS6. Just buy the correct design for your engine.

I like cooler thermostats, as is you are doing spirited driving, it keeps the temps slightly cooler, or at the track, keeps them from getting TOO hot quite as quickly. It is NOT a power mod.

It was 65 here yesterday and I saw my temp hit 220 while sitting in traffic. Car normally runs 194 at speed. I personally like cooler engines, although I know GM has been designing their engines to run hot for years for emission issues. Will probably install the 160 t'stat and tune for earlier fans when I install my hedders this spring.

Default Consider a 178

I live in North Georgia, and tuners I've talked with in this area recommended a 178 degree stat. I bought mine from Vinci Hi Perf and it is a nice piece. My Ron Zimmer tune is set to have the fans come on earlier. The car runs great, and the car runs cooler both on the highway as well as around town.
I didn't go with the 160, as there is still colder weather part of the year.
