Kooks long tube headers with x-pipe and cats will be installed next week along with a tune on my '06 monty red mn6 f55. Can't wait! Can anyone comment on what I can/should expect from this?? Thanks.
On my 05 A4 I have those mods except the headers are LG longtubes. Further I added the Halltech stinger intake and new ported heads. Finally a cam similar to the 2002 Z06 was installed. Net result was 392.5 rwhp on the A&A dyno. These were a lot of mods with less than expected hp increase. But the cam is tame at idle, no codes are popping up after 1000 miles, and it will pass the sniffer smog test in Calif. I am hoping that a more aggressive tune will put the car over 400 rwhp as long as it still behaves well on the street. BTW it is very loud with the headers and a Corsa Sport exhaust. Very loud!

your cheek to cheek smile will go ear to ear with all the rear pushing neck snaping g's from the newly released torque monster (so to say).
As everyone stated, there is a 10% bump in power from the headers and tune to about 375 rwhp or so.
The thing that will help you a alot here is the throttle response improvement. That will be experienced at all speeds as well as a nice improvement from not having a ton of timing pulled from TQ management being tuned out.
As for the sound, I noticed that the volume difference was pretty negligable but the tone is much deeper. There is no drone issue.
The jury is still out on just how good LS2 tuners and their software is so I can't speak with any accuracy, but with over 4 years of LS6 under our belt, many LS6 owner's were shooting for an honest 400 RWHP with those mods. For the most part even with an aggressive tune they were coming up short, usually around 395 some as high as 398. I know we are splitting hairs here and what difference does 2 or 3 HP mean.
But that was the goal, 400 RWHP with papers to prove it. I will say this the LS6 does seem stronger, most stock LS6 dyno'd between 345 and 355 many 04's are seeing 355 to 365, lending credence that GM "tweaked" the tuning but not actually raising the "advertised HP". This is also confirmed by many 04 LS6 guys complaining of "lean codes" after adding a simple intake.
Just for the record here's my dyno sheet from my 03 Z06 with just 3 bolt-on's:
Blackwing
Bassani X-Pipe
B&B PRT
Look at my AFR's, this puppy is running rich. So much so my exhaust tips look like I drive a diesel. With a good tune I should see 375RWHP easily.
I'm very much interested in this subject as I just ordered a 3LT, 3U3, Z51 Monty Red 6-speed coupe and I don't want to step backwards in performance if I can avoid it.

Tom
headers + exhaust + tune will net you around 375+/-
Add a custom cam and you con pop it right over 400 with a mild one. A FAST90 manifold might take you to 400, but it would be close.
Add heads and mild-cam and you'll easily clear the mark; but my LG Pro LT headers and G5X3 cam put's me in 420 territory.
when you get The Kooks Headers and their X pipe done .Have them Weld a braket in the middle of the X pipe[ Like the Stock one has]Because when my car hits a bump i can hear the X pipe bang...The X pipe is too long without a brace.... And my Car was done by a sponser on this board??????????
