You may have seen the thread in the Forced Induction section, but A&A is intalling a custom vortech s/c on my c6 z51 along with Bilsteins and a new sway bar. It's SO close to finishing, already we're up to 503 RWHP. I just left the dr office and discovered that I ruptured one tendon and tore another in my LEFT foot. Surgery is next week and I'll be in a cast for 8 weeks, plus a soft cast and therapy for another 8 weeks.
This means that I will not be able to drive my car for at least 2-3 months!!!! I will go crazy. Insanely crazy. (I was training for a triathlon this fall so that's off too. Ahhhhhh.).
It's funny how life can throw you a little twist every now and then that completely changes your plans.
i feel your pain....well i think you'll appreciate it more now....if i happen to stumble across a magic lamp i'll ask the genie to make your foot better hahaha....get well soon

S#!+ dude, my heart skipped a beat when I was reading your post and got to the "I just left the dr office and discovered ...." I thought you were going to say, "...I had 6 weeks to live."
You'll bounce back. And if you need someone to drive it for you in the meantime, I may be able to make myself available.
I am sorry to hear that. Try to take it easy and don't try to get back to it too soon as you could make your healing time longer.
I have taken Shou shu (martial arts Eastern China founded) and have been taking Brazilian Jiu Jitsu from a Gracie affiliated school, but hurt had to suspend going as my lower left back is still tight and hurts. I really want to get back to it, but I forced myself to stop from now until I know I can get back there. I have also just allowed myself to only do light weights at the gym and stretch a lot.
Thanks folks. Grew up in Chicago so it will be hard to pretend it's winter when it's 60 and sunny outside but I'll try!
Well, I just exchanged a few PMs with a friend and I think I'm already on to the next project. I'm gonna look into the Z06 tire and wheel package and new rear fendors. This will give me a bit more rubber when I finally can drive the car. I'll need to find a good body shop in so cal to handle this for me.
That's exactly what I am doing. Installing caravaggio rear fenders and CCW 13 in wheels. I have the LPE 403 package and felt the same way about increasing the tire width for better traction. Can't wait to test it out.
I understand 100% what you're going through. 3 1/2 years ago I got shot in the chest just after getting hurt on 9/11. It was a bad year and my sport was powerlifting. Having a near 800 squat and 500 bench press was put on hold for surgery and recovery. I went from weighing 242 pounds down to 169 in 4 weeks. It took a good year before I had the strength back that a high school kid has. Still when I got out of the hospital wondering how i survived, the first thing I did was ask my brother to wash my vette and I drove it needing two hands to shift gears. The drive lasted a mere 20 minutes before I was exhausted but it was something to look forward too.
I would be bothered more for the set-back from the sports perspective; you can look forward to the car when all is well.
One day if you do all the right things for your recovery you will get back to your performance level and all will be well. I know this since I am probably 6 months out of reattaining my prior strength levels.
Prayin for a good recovery.

Just curious, why are you guys replacing sway bars and shocks on a Z51? I was going to leave that option off my order and do the same, but everyone said to buy it b/c the package works well together.

Keep your positive spirits alive, we're praying for your quick recovery buddy!!! I plan on stopping by Andy's shop sometime this week, I'll keep you posted and hopefully take some snap shots of your precious metal.

I may get flamed from this one, but personally the Z51 is way to soft for me. It drives more like a cadillac. I've owned BMWs (Ms, 740s) and still have my M3 and love the handling of these cars. I wanted to tighten the cornering (roll) and soften the up/down I get with sudden acceleration and braking. The vert MAY??? be more active than the coupe but there's too much movement for me.
So I'm going with the Bilstein Sport shocks and Hotchkis sway bars. I understand the sway bars are a bit stiffer and are adjustable.
And, I'm now finalizing details to widen the rear quarters, put 275s in front and 325s in rear.
So, when I am fully recovered the car will be ready to go.
When I look at the z51 for the MN6, tire that are too narrow and will be replaced, d/s rotors that rust and need coating or replacement, sway bars - fine and stiffer springs - not sure of the difference and shocks - would prefer Billsteins anyway. I just do not think it is worth it for me. Am I missing anything?
What does it cost to widen the rear quarters? I would like to run 13" rear wheels with 345's as well. Any pictures of the product?

I'm going with the Z06 19x12" chrome reproductins with the Z06 rear fenders and Pilot Sport 345's. Total cost including tires, wheels, fenders, and painting about $4000. The fenders are $700 from Fred Bean, the Wheels are $1200, the tires (Michelin zero pressure or run flats)are $1700, Painting fenders about $400.
