It's happened a few times now. All of a sudden my windows fog up and I have to turn on the defroster. The worst was on a mountain road at night! At first, I thought it might be a heater core issue, but the dealer pressure tested the system and claim it's ok. I've read on CF about the factory filling refrigerant to 1.4 pounds and lowering it to the manual recommendation of 1.1 pounds will cure the moist air entering the cabin. I had the dealer do this, but driving home last night, 54 degrees outside, it did it again. Anyone else with this issue?
Set the climate control system to the "defog" setting...it automatically turns on the AC system and provides dry air to the windshield and front of the side windows. The heat function remains unaffected.
For some reason when driving, a short burst of moist air is entering the cabin. I shouldn't have to run with the defroster on all the time and I shouldn't have to open the window. It hasn't rained in several weeks so the carpet is dry. Low humidity. There's a problem with the heating/AC system! I've had several cars with automatic climate control and have never experienced this situation.

Yeah, it sounds like it could be an AC problem. The AC is supposed to remove the moisture and drain it out the bottom. But, if it isn't on, the moisture isn't removed...when your control is set to auto, the AC may not be helping if the inside temperature is already at the set point. Others have complained about the HVAC system bringing in unconditioned (hot) outside air, but I think it was related to the incorrect AC charge in early 2005s.
The only time I've had condensation on the inside of the windshield was when I started the car up in a thuderstorm. Defog cleaned the windshield right away...I can't remember if I had to keep it on defog to maintain a clear windshield, but if you have high relative humidity with cool outside air, that may be necessary.

Make sure you do not have the recirculation button pressed. Fresh air needs to enter the driving compartment when the hvac system is not operating or the windows will fog up.

Thanx. I always have fresh air coming in.........Still fogging
