I am hearing so much about the x-pipe regarding whether or not it works or doesn't work, i.e. it makes a diff. or it doesn't make a difference. Does anybody know for SURE? I'm ready to order one but I'm starting to hear some stories that it doesn't really make any diff on the C6. I'm running stock from the engine to the catalytic converters, have a Calloway Honker on at the front end and Corsa Sports on at the back end. All I really want to do for now is change out the middle pipe and replace it with an x-pipe either from Corsa or from BB. Anybody really know about this mod; is there anything to be gained at all or not really on the C6?
Thanks
I have read many posts and it seemed that most were saying it made no difference on power and maybe a slight negative impact to low end torgue depending on which size.
So my opinion is, if you purcahse a x-pipe for a stock c6 the only postive benefit is that is helps the economy.
Probably makes no difference on a stock exhaust system. If you have equal length headers, it will smooth out the exhaust pulses because the engine does not fire alternatively on odd and even banks. So THEORETICALLY, it DOES help to some small degree.
It may calm noise down but there is dual exh allready and the X pipe is not going to do anything more than that and a waste of money. I have yje cat back Magnaflow and no burble etc thay talk about. There is a small rumble when down shifting but that is a normal rumble. If you want no rumble why even change the exhaust from factory anyway I think.
On my ZR1 I added an X-pipe to a car that already had already been dyno tuned and long tube headers and a 3" exhaust. Removing the resonator from the Tri-flow exhaust and adding an X-pipe in its place added 8 SAE corrected rwhp. A few tweets to the flash netted an addition 5.
When I added an airbox, headers and bullet cats to my C6 I also added the X-pipe. I can't tell you which item added how many ponies but the package running through stock exhaust is great.
