I bought my new C6 with no mileage 2 months ago and it had rust on the rotors, it's an 05 and the C6 was sitting outside but under an awning. The salesman said the rust will come off once I start braking but after 1000 miles it's still there and the pads still squeek a bit on soft braking, what's up?
I'm not sure what you mean "it's still there". The faces of the rotors show rust within about five minutes after you wash it. But by the time you back down your driveway - it's gone. Now, there will be rust in the vanes, but that's practically not even noticable. Please elaborate on the rust (a picture would be nice).
BTW, Corvette rotors have done this for many years.
Part of the problem is that "metals with high coefficients of friction and adequate strength to be used as rotors" rust. Leaving you with 4 options::
A) ignore the problem like 95% of us
B) paint the rusting areas with very high temperature paint
C) used zinc dipped/coated rotors
D) got for a high dollar braking system with aluminum hats
