Everyone has the opinions and most go with LG, but I like everything else I do shifted to the left. My Melrose Ceramic Coated Headers will be on with the Dyno Results by next Tuesday. Check out East Coast Vettes and see the pic and write up of what they look like and will look like a long while. Most people in the Forum don't even know who they are. I have Ceramic headers on my 67 GT and have been there for nearly 10 years and they still have the smooth silver finish and kick butt. I can shut the car down and in 10-15 min max grab the header. Try that on a stainless one and you will loose skin. I believe I'm the only one going this route so I would wait for the post next week. Melrose has been doing headers for vettes for over 30 years.
The "shorty" headers you are referring to may not be worth the money. Callaway wants about $1,300 for theirs and they only make between 8-10 HP. Billy Boat makes 'em also and the HP should be about the same.
Thanks guys, I was thinking about doing it for the sound.
Stupid, I know, but most of the aftermarket catbacks are too loud and have drone. I'm also waiting for the new Corsa system. Maybe, using headers and the stock mufflers would give me the sound I like.
And I am old enough to remember hearing about Melrose.

The headers I referred to are long tube and ceramic coated. Wont get a better price for ceramic and I dont care what any post says I have nearly 10 years on mine in my GT and doubtful any vette owner here will even have the current vette they discuss in 10 years. LG's may be good but there are just as good headers to each his or her own. Same for tuners goes as headers. I hear LG this and that but had mine done in Florida and have zero issues with significant gains but you dont see Mike Norris from NLP in every other thread.

Mike did my C6 after I put dynaTech headers on. He will retune it after I put the heads and cam on. You're right about Mike, he just quietly goes about his business being one of the better tuners.

Think your mixing apples and oranges. The highflow cats will not effect the sound level. You can get long tube headders with cats and keep the stock mufflers if you want. Any decent muffler shop will be able to cut the pipes and hook them up the stock system to your LT headers and highflow cats.

No need to cut OEM exhaust with Lg's. They mount up to the stock exhaust. It produces just the sound I was looking for. Loud enough to scare the person next to me but not loud enough at WOT to attract the unwanted.
