Does anyone know who makes this oil for Wally World? It seems to pass all the tests Mobil1 does.Great price at $12.48 for 5qts. Would like to use in my other daily drivers but will continue to use in the Vette.

Isn't Mobil1 about $4 per quart? So that equates to $20 for 5 quarts. Looks like you're only saving $7.52. Not worth the risk if you ask me...
again, I don't think it meets the GM 4718, but if it does then use it.
I buy any oil that meets the standard. Usually Havoline Synthetic is the cheapest oil that does so.
You don't have to run Mobil 1 to maintain your warranty, just a GM 4718 oil. Mobil 1 is good oil, but their marketing tactics really **** me off. Every couple of years, they re-market the same product, and jack the price up a dollar or two.
I don't know where all of these people live, but in the rural area I'm in, the only places to shop for anything mechanical are Wal Mart, Lowes (home improvement), Advance Auto, and Autozone. And guess what, they are all large corporations killing our economy by flooding the market with Chinese imports. It's sad but true, but while WalMart may have started it, they're all guilty now.

most of the people that have a problem with walmart are blue staters but thats a topic for a differant forum, drive on.
I get the feeling it's WAY MORE COMPLICATED THAN THAT. Haven't you heard of "Globalization". As long as you don't tell other people where to shop. ..even if they own an Ferrari F430. And I think some of the engines in Vettes are assembled in Canada. (St. Catherines)

I wouldn’t trust anything this company says! This is the same company that got caught putting American Flags over the made in Taiwan labels!
I figure; I bought a GREAT American car, so I’m going to put in Mobil One sold by a great American company! IMHO, that rules out The Peoples Republic of Wally World!

Just don't rule out the great republic of CANADA....that's where your Vette engine was built!

Turbooo,
You are absolutely correct, it is a complicated issue! Globalization is precisely what is complicating the issue!
Let’s say Joe, an American worker earning $25.00 an hour plus benefits, cashes his paycheck and spends it at Wal-Mart, who in turn sends his U.S. dollars to a Government subsidized company in Communist China that pays their workers $25.00 “A WEEK”, if they are lucky and no benefits!
How can Joe’s employer compete with that kind of competition? Short answer is; they can’t and they either move their operation off shore or they go out of business! The problem wouldn’t be quite so bad it the balance of trade wasn’t so far out of whack (approx 170 Billion dollar per year trade deficit)!
I know my example is an over simplification of the problem but it accurately portrays what is happening in this country. Pick up a copy of Lou Dobbs book, “Exporting of America”; it’s a real scary eye opener!

Sorry about the rant.

You make some good points. The labor costs overseas seems to be the biggest culprit. I've decided to buy American when it comes to automobiles even if they test out as slightly inferior to their foreign counterparts. It seems like most poorer people and elderly people on fixed incomes are the ones who really need the Wal-Mart.
