Its an H pipe. Most aftermarket systems are using the X pipe. I don't know of anyone actually doing a dyno comparison between the two to see how much hp difference there is. Generally speaking, it has been my experience that the X pipe works better then the H. Not sure why Chevy doesn't install an X other then it might be a cost issue.
The old C5 H-pipe was too small to function properly.
Whats the scoop on the connector pipe? Is it H or X-shaped ? Is its internal diameter large enough effectively equalize pressures ?
The C6 exhaust is much more efficient than the C5's (redesigning the exhaust was one of the ways Chevy got more HP out of the LS1 motor to bring it up to 400 HP). The design changes included fewer bends in the system (straighter exhaust path) and, I believe, a bigger H pipe (ID-wise) (never could figure out why Chevy did their "same diameter OD smaller diameter ID" C5 design).
For what it's worth, have had Corsas on both my C5 and now my C6. With the C5, I installed just the exhausts while waiting for an x pipe, and noticed the popping noises when backing off the accelerator. Once I installed the x pipe, these essentially disappeared (or at least lessened). I have Corsa Sports on the C6, and left the stock H pipe in place. There is no discernable popping going on like I had with the C5, and I like the more aggressive sound. HTH.

Agreed ... no idea why they did such a small porthole within the C5 H-pipe.
So ... you say the C6 Corsa Sports have a more AGGRESSIVE sound than the C5 Pace's ?
When I listen to the exhaust sounds at Corsa's website .... I can't be sure how the two compare. They don't use the same sound categories with the two. ( C5 gives more aggresive launch, revs, a drive by 'burnout', and dyno run ..... which the C6 sounds don't duplicate)

The primary way they made more power was the increase in displacment, as well as a larger camshaft....... 385hp (2001 LS6) * 6.0/5.7= you guessed it, 405hp
The C6 h-pipe looks just like the C5 h-pipe. I haven't cut into one, but I imagine it is similarly comprimised.
