My B&M is coming out the weekend, and the stock shifter is going back in. Does any one have experience with other shifters and pass it along here? I think the Calloway is the most expensive, and it's gotten good comments in this forum. But, does it also buzz? The B&M makes this car sound like a Kia with 100k on the odometer!
My experience is with C5's and for the most part it wasn't the shifter that rattled and buzzed it was the ****. The factory **** almost always made noise as did many aftermarket ****'s. I went through 5 before I found one that didn't make noise. MGW, they have since stopped making Corvette accessories. Too bad they manufactured great stuff for the C5.
Before you take it out try and insulate the **** or try a different ****. I've had this on a few aftermarket shifters and it was the **** not the shifter itself. I got this speech from somebody and thought they were insane because it sounded in no way like it was related to the ****. But, I tried it and it worked like a champ. I actually switched ***** in my case.
Couldn't find the post with a search but somebody posted earlier on this Forum that they had used silicone gasket material between the **** and the shaft and reduced the rattle.
i am working with a hurst research specialist here in GA i have now tested the B&M calloway breathless performace hurst with straight stick and bent, also a custom shifter that has stockinternals and they created a new base that moved the pivot point which gives the short throw like the rest it is the least noisy and second best is the breathless. any questions let me know nickyd83_28@hotmail.com

A modified base would be easy to make for anyone with a milling machine.
Do you know what it takes to move the pivot on the shift lever?
