Default Pulling the Motor Today

I'm in the process of attempting to yank the motor out of the C6. I'm in my garage with no lift. SpinMonster has been kind enough to give me a bunch of pointers from his experiences with a swap. You guys have any words of wisdom? I'm planning on unbolting the drive line then supporting the block with my hoist. Then I'm going to drop the K-member and see if I can get it out. If y'all have any "hey, watch out for these" please pass them my way.

I know you are going to ask... I broke a roller off one of the lifters which jammed up the cam and caused the timing chain to jump and whack a bunch of valves on a bunch of pistons. So, I'm putting a 402 in it with a big nasty cam.

Nah, I had a cam and heads in the car. Besides I wouldn't want a stock engine anyway... I just have a warantee for the electrical stuff.

Wow, a guy on the tech boards that actually mods instead of whinning about warranties!!

Good luck with the swap and give me a call if you need anything.

Heh heh...

Most of us (I hope) are smart enough to know that once we get "into" the motor, it makes little sense to try and get the General to warranty motor "issues". I too am seeking an extended warranty plan to cover electrical, A/C, and the like.

Too many damn computers in this thing to NOT have a warranty. I'm buying the Magnuson drivetrain extended warranty to cover the motor back. I'll probably end up with the GMPP to cover everything else.

Good luck on your new build. Hate to have to pull a motor without a lift and full shop-worth of support...

Rick

Would you please explain what the Magnuson drivetrain warranty is and how much it costs and where do you obtain same? I have a 2005 C6 that falls withinn the Vin range whereby I might expect the Harmonic balancer to fly away at some point and am therefore investigating extended warranty options. Is this warranty cheaper than the extended warranty programs that GM offers?
Thanks in advance for your help.
