they are both competent, and capable of the same outcome. If you are doing your own tuning, then HPTuners is more popular. If it is being professionally done, then trust the tuner's knowledge of the product they use.

I can appreciate the comment about trusting your tuner, and I do, it was and will be Mike Norris. However, the HP tune seems to put out bigger numbers than the LS2 with comparible equipment and setups. Any reason(s) why this happens?

If you are using the same tuner, on the same dyno, then you will see what you pick up with your mods .. that's the point of dyno tuning. Stick where you're at for now. Those guys are good, and have a good reputation.
You can always go to some shop with a very liberal dyno if you need a bigger number on paper for dyno racing.
As far as the tuning software goes, they both address the same variables.
The last couple of months after my LS2 edit, car started being very sensitive to which gas I used in regard to pinging. I also understand that there has been a change in the formula for CA gas although can't seem to find anyone that can tell me exactly what it is. Some feel they pulled that MT stuff and added 5% alcohol. Anyway, removed LS2 edit and installed HP tune. Had to reduce timing from aprox 26 degrees to aprox 16 to yield the following and no more ping to boot. (red HP and blue LS2 edit) Same tuner and same Dyno.
Can anyone explain the difference between the 2 tune's software and output? I'm having my C6 tuned and dynoed on Friday after adding heads/cam.
Thanks,
Jeff
Both are tools, like a wrench or screwdriver. One may be a Snap-On, the other a MAC, but they both do the same job, and the results obtained will be strictly a function of the competence of the person using the tool. Pick your tuner based on his reputation and the rapport you form with him, then let him pick the brand screwdriver he is more comfortable using.
Let Mike do his thing, and quit being such a worry-wart. He'll do the best all-around & safest tune. He's done enough C6's that you should be real happy, and not have to worry about burning holes in your pistons...

What, me worry, not a chance
The question was more out of curiousity, if I didn't trust Mike, Breathless is just down the road.
