Default It Shut Down....Codes

Picked up my Vette at the NCM and am driving it back to Phoenix. Got 40 miles East of Amarillo, TX and I felt a stutter, SES light came on went into an idle and pedal and tranny didn't seem to work.
Got it pulled over, checked fluids, wiring, plug wires, battery, etc. Tried re-starting it a couple of times and it took several seconds before it would start. when it did, it was idling real rough. Did that twice and then everything went back to normal. SES light stays on.
Got it to a dealership and pulled the following codes P0700 and P0717 Tranny Input Speed, P0335 Crank Position Sensor.
No parts, cleared codes and running OK for now.
Anybody have a similar problem?
Got another 800 or so miles to go. Hope it holds.

That's one I haven't heard before. Good luck on the rest of the trip and let us know how it works out.

Document that incident, maybe bad sensors that will need to be replaced later.

From the '05 Manual; DTC P0700

1.The control module turns OFF the malfuncyion indicator lamp after 3 consecutive ignition cycles that the diagnostic runs and does not fail.
2. A current DTC, LAST Test Failed, clears when the diagnostic runs and pases.
3. A history DTC clears after 40 consecutive warm up cycles, if no failures are reported by this or any other emission related diagnostic
4. Clear the MIL and DTC with a scan tool.

Sounds like they're saying the computer can have a brain fart and as long as it doesn't recur you are OK.

Well, it shut down again today on the freeway. Re-started and it ran fine. Tach died so I shut it down and re-started again and runs fine. Pulled the codes again and the crankshaft sensor code came up again. of course, the dealer didn't have one. frig....

Headed to Phoenix....hope I make it..and not on the back of a flatbed.

Default dtc p0700 6.0 vs. 7.0 engine

'06 manual - for both the engines, says the Transmission Control Module is setting the code

says to "perform the diagnostic system check" - page 10-3

list
1.- ensure the battery is fully charged, cables tight and clean
- inspect for any open fuses
- refer to Power Distribution Schematics on page 8-1016 and Electrical Center Identification Views on page 8-1084
- inspect the easily accessible systesm or the visible system components for obvious damage or conditions that could cause the symptom.
- Ensure that the grounds are clean, tight, and in the correct location.
refer to Ground Distribution Schematics on page 8-1027 and Power and Grounding Component Views on page 8-1080

- Inspect aftermarket devices that could affect the operation of the system. Refer to Checking Aftermarket Accessories on page 8-973.
- Search for applicable service bulletins.

2. install a scan tool ....

3-8 #6 attempt to start the engine. does it start and idle?

Hope you made it home, and can get this figured out.

Oh yeah, I made it back but it shut down 3 times coming down the mountains from Flagstaff. That was exciting!

Took it to Van Chevrolet and they replaced the crank sensor and I have driven it about 1200 miles since with no problems!

Hi, i got a C6 2005 with some trouble like yous.

I bought the car in Limp-mode and the gearbox seems to be locked in 3rd gear.

I had the P0315 code on the engine (crank shaft position not relearned) and i still got the P0717 code on the gearbox.

Do you have any ideas for me? I live in Sweden and to bad, we are not that good on these problems.

Ps. The engine runs all the time and the reverse is OK.
