when you spent 50k on a car, why cant u spend 350-400 on a nice system?
I agree!
You get what you pay for
Also the dealer is less apt to notice a lpe setup if you had any issues
But i am shure they would $hit there pants if thay saw a PVC coupling with duct tape protruding from the underneath of the car !

I think what alot of people don't understand is that for some it isn't about the money but on whether or not they can improve on something themselves rather than let someone else do it, case in point Spinmonster. Ingenuity like this is why we have some of the mods out there. I think it is also why some do the work on their car versus having someone do it for them. It is because they "can" do it and like the feeling of doing it themself. Alot of people, esp engineers will, will take a product and try to make it better. It's just their curiousity to do it. I , myself, don't know as much about these cars as I would like but I'm trying my best to learn. So in essence I am saying thanks to those who have the guts and knowledge to experiment with their cars!!

This is why some do the mods themselves. I happen to like the creative part to the whole thing. Also I can undo this in 10-15min if I must bring the car in. To each his/her own. We all love these cars! My friends think I am nuts since 400 HP is not enough!!
Most of the Vette drivers are not hotrodders like Spin, they are suits with too much money worried about a warranty, looking for a magic bean in an over priced airbox that won't do much of anything. I made 430 rwhp through the stock one and I will make 500+ through it in a few weeks. I did however sacrifice my first born child to GM and crack open the motor. Oh God I've voided my warranty! Oh no, the car might drone! EEEKKK save me before its too late. This is the Tech forum so I guess we should all be able to post the tech stuff we do without fear of reprisal from folks that belong in the General Talk section... or am I wrong here?

i finally got to see your pic. hey, not bad...
question, how well does the 4" pvc that replaced the stock air bridge clear the hood/radiator. the stock bridge narrows as it crosses the rad., how much clearance is left with the new pipe ? i like the idea of having the wider opening all the way to the intake/maf.

Man thanks and I would buy you a cup of coffee but it looks like you already had a few...
Another Forum I'm on calls these "Welfare Mods". I'm a firm believer in using parts on hand or parts you can beg, borrow or steal to gain performance. If the results are as good or better than a purchased part go ahead and do it. It's one way to avoid the "Corvette Tax".
My examples;
Magna flow mufflers and tips welded in for $300+.
Door handle surrounds removed (color match door handles) = $0
Waterfall and dash pods rattle can painted = $4
Savings of well over $1000 for a little hands on time.
I made my own because my plan is to add a turbo set up in the future and I don't want to waste $350 for an aftermarket one that will be useless when I change to a turbo setup. Plus I am tired of the Corvette upcharge! If these same style parts were for a Mustang they would be $150.
