When I turn on auto volume when parked there is a small volume increase. When parked with auto volume on and I turn the fan to full speed there is no difference in volume. When driving on a road with a lot of road noise I have no change is volume. Dealer says it is working correctly.

Is the auto volume based on noise level or speed of vehicle?
After studying mine quite a bit under different conditions, plus reading what I can find in manual and on the Bose website about the Audio Pilot, I think the volume increase with speed is modest and only as the system picks up background wind and road noise. But it appears the main thing it is attempting to do is adjust the frequency response to compensate for road noises, sort of like an automatic adjustment to equallizer settings to compensate for background road and wind noises. I have concluded that it does achieve this to some extent by listening to a CD that has clear music passages that are predominately at high end, then other passages at mid range sections etc so I could look for differences. I found that with the button set to off that at cruising speeds the sound would loose some character. The C6 has improved cabin noise levels to the point that the effect is pretty subtle, but it is enough that I leave it engaged. I think it does work but is subtle,.....not a barn burner effect. (I have not experimented with just the fan on high speed at idle.)

I spoke to one of my contacts at Bose. With Audio Pilot, you are not suppose to detect a change in volume. That is the point of Audio Pilot. It is not like speed compensated volume control where volume simply increases based on the VSS signal. The Audio Pilot compensates for ambient noise levels by modifying the audio equalization, based on the Audio Pilot algorithm. For me, it is very hard to hear the difference. Also, there is no "functional test" for Audio Pilot.
