tapping when cold
The only way to eliminate it completely would be to install some sort of pre-luber, like an accusump, to feed pressurized oil to the engine prior to and during startup.
The noise is likely the lifters compression slightly, which really isn't a wear issue. The main journals get oil first, and then the valvetrain, so the important parts get protection, even though you may hear valvetrain noise (lifters, rockers).
Unless it gets worse, I wouldn't worry about it. Just don't rev the engine until the pressure is stable

The valve train in the LS2 motor is slightly noiser that the LS1. I would just keep an ear
on it! Sometimes mine does it after setting over night. Sometimes it can set for a week and will not have the tappet noise on start up. I can never predict when it will or will not have the tappet noise on start up. It does not seem to be related to ambient temperature, but it does seem to be related to oil temp, in that the oil temp is always below 60 degrees F when this occurs.
