Default B&B PRT center section ?'s

I can not picture how this thing goes on. Can it only be used with the B&B bullet system or could I use this on a random tech 3" cat back?

Does it replace the x-pipe? Sorry I am having a brain fart and can not figure this thing out. Sounds like a great idea, but if someone has one and can explain I would appreciate it.

It simply replaces the stock X pipe. It will bolt up to anything that the stock X pipe bolts to. They send it in two pieces probably to make it easier to ship (just a guess).

If you have any other specific questions, let me know. I have one on my car now, but am probably going to take it back off because I liked the sound of the Bullets better without it, and it's a weekend only car for me.

Did it quiet down the bullets too much for you? Also, do you have a manual or auto? Seriously considering the Bullets with PRT section but worried about drone, especially since I have an A6.

jshindler, how is the drone changed by the PRT system? Did it significantly cut it down? I have the RT66 now, and I'd love to run the Bullets, but I think the drone might be too much for me. The RT66 drones pretty badly under load at low rpm.

Thank you, is it a 2.5" I assume.

It's whatever is stock. I assume that is 2.5", but I have to say that I have never measured it.

The PRT center section does quiet it down. Understand, it is still louder than, say a Corsa or Magnaflow. But it is noticably quieter than Bullets. It's also a little higher pitched. I've had it on for about three weeks. Yesterday, a friend of mine who also has a convertible with the Bullets (but no PRT) swapped cars for a few minutes. We both agreed that the non-PRT equiped car sounds better.

It does reduce the drone somewhat, but does not eliminate it completely.

Jschindler, is the PRT just an x-pipe put into a sound dampening metal box? That is what it looks like anyway.

I like loud, I had magnapacks on my last C5 A4 with a 315, but the resonance drone was just a little much. I am on the fence, I am leaning towards the random tech 3" cat back at this point. I am thinking Kooks to a 3" x-pipe with cats to the 3" random tech cat back. I think I will just take some time this summer to sound dampen the car a little. Plus with a six speed auto I should be able to stay out of the drone rpm's better than with my C5.

Did you figure out that offset for me yet??

You'd have to understand how B&B has been building the PRT's for several years to understand it. They are basically straight pipes with a chamber off to one side. There is a tab bent over in the middle of the exhaust stream that deflects some of the flow off to the side - which I think is supposed to "bounce" part of the wave into the chamber, and back into the flow again to cancel out some of the waves.

No, I have not figured out the offset, and will be traveling all this week, so it's doubtful I will. You might want to call John at CCW and ask.

Thanks for the info. I'll probably try the PRT at some point, or go with a Corsa system. Right now, I find myself shifting to different gears just to avoid the drone, so I need to change something.
