Default C6 Mods

I just brought my C6 out of winter storage and feel the need to spend some money. This is my first vette so what does everyone recommend.

1. Air intake type?
2. Headers & Exhaust system?
3. New rims(which brand), factory rims suck.

Anything else?

Thanks!

We went with CCW 505A Wheels ...check them out on the net or call John (the owner). There are several styles and size-pairings you can do. Personally I think you get a lot for $2600. As soon as we have 1,000 miles on the car it will get a base dyno run, then Callaway Honker intake, low temp thermostat, wires, Stainless Works headers, Corsa Sport exhaust, and a good dyno tune. As near as I can tell these are all top-notch pieces, though I suspect there are several others in the same league.

Personally, unless you're doing the work yourself, I'd find a high quality speed shop and use the products they like. Here in Atlanta it's MTI Racing in Marietta and owner Reese ***. Reese particularly likes the Callaway I think (you out there Reese?). Still hard to say on the street I suppose, but with a big fan blowing my stock C5 did 321.6 RWHP with the hood open and 294 RWHP with the hood closed. Reese's experience is that 27 HP gap evaprorates with the Callaway feeding cold air. If you buy that, the Callaway is a run away winner ...not so much because it adds power as much as jit ust stops you from losing it due to hot under hood air. I'd love to hear what othes have to say on that.

BTW the last C6 Reese set up as mine (except a different exhaust) did 396 RWHP after mods & tune. I see other notes on the forum with guys saying they're getting in the 370's with similar parts of other brands, but I'm thinking that difference is more the dyno then the parts. I think Reese said he was getting 335 or so on stock C6s with the hood closed and 353 maybe with it open. ...but I'm not sure on those ...just my memory.

Good Luck

1. Halltech CAI & Ram Air
2. American Racing Headers with GHL exhaust
3. OEM Comp Grey Rims

I happen to like the OEM rims so like #3, to each his own. There are many air intakes, headers and exhausts out there. The best way is to check & hear for yourself before purchasing. Don't forget the tune. That will give you the most gain in RWHP after the intake and exhaust is installed.
