That's up to you... Here's a Dyno graph of my 21st Century Muscle Cars modified ATI kit... some mods listed at the bottom of the graph... Hopefully others will post Dyno sheets so you can compare... Hope this helps...

Default Supercharger

I am interested in the Procharger, mainly because it fits under the hood and can be returned to stock without showing any significant traces.

Of course, I'm interested in a dramatic horsepower/torque gain but I am equally interested in retaining the quiet, seamless driveability of the original car. In short, I want it to go like a real hot rod but not drive like one!

What does the procharger do to the general driving character of the car (assuming everything else is basically stock)?

This was an excellent write up although not C6 specific it is a very good article.

http://www.stl-vettes.com/power_adders.htm

I am doing some very preliminary research on these and I am probably going to do the Maggie at some point. I don't care for the looks of the Pro Charger and other centrifugal setups, and the belt issues are another concern.

This was another good thread.

Both are nice. I have always been partial to the roots type SC, but they also require a new hood.

Can't tell you about a stock car with procharger, however mine drives as docile as a stocker until you press the "loud" pedal...You would never know what's under my hood until you hear the blow off valve...
Good luck with your choice...

Thanks very much to all. That's what I wanted know.

Mr. Big, you've described exactly what I'm looking for! When I'm "on it" I don't care if it's loud.

By the way. I would also prefer the "Roots" type if all things were equal, but changing the hood of a vehicle which GM spent millions to design (and in my opinion, got it right) just doesn't appeal to me!

OK, which supercharger will actually fit in a C6 using the stock hood?

ATI, A&A, ECS all have kits that fit under the stock hood....

Here's what you can expect from a Procharger from a car with just Kooks headers, GHL and FAST intake...

Also if time is not an issue for you, Magnacharger is developing (supposedly) a low-profile blower that will still fit under your hood. It will sacrifice some power due to it being smaller, but how great would it be to have a completely stock look with a sweet Roots style blower under the hood. I am personally a fan of the Maggie. Granted all blowers will make sick power, but the twin screw design will give greater low end improvements, while the centrifugal charger will give greater peak (high end) HP. Hope this helps some.

Me I'm waiting for the low pro Maggie!

No lo-pro maggie - though I hear they're doing a BIGGER one. RK Sport hood was the deciding factor, as I didn't care to change my hood either.

Which S/C is the cheaper of the 2? Also which one is louder? I don't care about being stealthy, I love the sound of any FI.

Rick,
Do you have some good pics of the RK sport hood. Correct me if I am wrong, but yours has a Magnacharger on it?? I would love to see pics of it if you care to post.

ATI, ECS, A&A are cheaper with more h.p. than the maggie, and more potential for future h.p., and that's before the cost of the hood and paint... the maggie has more torque down low in the powerband, the others have more torque up top... check the dyno graphs between the two. Maggies are hard on traction because of the "instant" torque where the other kits build h.p. and t.q. and almost never stop pulling... my kit has 400+ ft.lbs of rwtq starting at 3300rpm and finishes with 518rwtq at 6000rpm, most of the time I get on it, in mine, I'm atleast at 3300rpm, so it makes for a no brainer for me... As far as sound the maggie has the sound you're lookin' for, the other kits are not a 1/4 as loud, except for a slight hiss/whine while cruising, however the loud blowoff valve during shifts sounds pretty damn neat (just like a turbo car)... Good luck with your decision... just my opinion for what it's worth
