Question: Does anyone know for sure if the wiring harness on all option levels of the coupe that plugs into the non-featured rearview mirror, is it wired for the auto dimming mirror? I want to pull the standard mirror (map lights, passenger air bag, manual day/night only) and purchase the map lights, auto dim, and compass(?) Corvette OEM mirror. I also don't know if the Passenger air bag status is on this new mirror.
Anyone know for sure about the 'plug and play' to get this done?
Mine is a '06. You say you made the change and everything worked? Did you use the OEM Chev/Corvette mirror or an aftermarket product? What about the Passenger Seat Belt status on the stock mirror, was it included in the upgrade mirror?
There is a thread on this from about a month or two ago. Not all of the wires are present on the cars that didn't come with the upper lever mirror. A work around was to jump one pin to another. The down side of this was that each time you started the car, you would have to turn on the mirror or something like that. Not a direct swap though.

Thanks.
The 2006 has six or seven wires, so I used a 2006 factory mirror, a 2005 mirror will not work in a 2006 because of the airbag light. If the dealer asks you for the VIN to find the mirror, just give him one off a car in the lot that has the mirror you want. I have compass, auto dim and map lights, no On-Star.
Yes, apparently (and without checking the shop manual---don't have one yet), base '05's only have 3 wires going to the mirror. Three wires is what I have on my '05. Apparently, no switched power, so the battery will eventually go dead if you don't manually turn off the auto-dim feature. And, this non-switched power has to be jumpered to the correct pin.
Another option is to run switched power to the mirror. Still not plug-and-play.
Guess the '06, with its air-bag light in mirror and extra wires, has switched power.
I know one thing for certain---installing the Homelink visor on a base '05 is plug-and-play. Just did it on Friday, nice.
