I'm putting Royal Purple in the rear end today and they say I don't need to add the 4oz modifier. Has anyone else used the RP and not added the modifier? Is it safer to add it anyway?
I've got RP without the modifier. The reason you don't need it is because RP already contains whatever it is that the modifier adds. So technically, you've already got it in there.

Thanks, but I ran into a bigger problem. I can't get the drain plug out! I even had a breaker bar on the thing and must have applied 200lbs of pressure and it wouldn't break loose. I'm afraid of cracking the housing so I stopped. Anyone else have this problem...?

I hate to even mention this but are you turning it the right way. When you are under the car it is easy to get turned around.
I've done that too. It shouldn't be that difficult. I got mine out using a 6 inch long handle. Are you sure you're turning the right plug too? The one that will spill out over the spring and takes an allen key.

I called RP and they said not to add any extra since it in the fluid already. So I did not add it, anyone else

Yes. I have about 3,000 mi since I installed the RP, so far, so good. Since the RP already has the "conditioner" you DO NOT want to add the GM conditioner. This would modify the friction too much and decrease the effect of the limited slip clutches.

This won't help you get the drain plug out, but ....
Make sure you can take the filler plug out before you take the drain plug out. When you find out you can't get the filler plug out after you've drained your rear end, it's like having a real bad hair day.
