PS My other cars are Honda and BMW - both shift very smooth compared to the C6.
You can't compare the C6 transmission shift smoothness with that of a Honda or BMW for that matter. Neither of them have the capacity to handle as much torque (not to be confused with horsepower) as the MN6. Unfortunately, it's going to "feel" different than your other cars because it is bigger/heavier/stronger. That being said, I'm quite satisfied with mine which only exhibits some of that notchy feel when cold.
Guys, do a search for the anti-venom shift mod. I did this mod by shimming the detent bolt with two 20mm copper oil drain plug washers, and it made a world of difference. The notchyness has been greatly reduced. I recommend.
Flip your DIC to show the oil temp, for there watch the oil temp rise. Once it's above 100, the tranny fluid temp is close to that and the stiffness in the shifter smooths out.
As others have said, the M6/M12 is designed to handle the LS2's torque load, which is considerable. Comparisons to less powerful cars is apples-to-oranges.
This is a great tranny. Take care of it by learning to shift it cleanly and by taking care of your clutch fluid....With that in mind, here are three clutch fluid issue threads to review:
I find the shifter on my 05 mn6 to be very notchy, especially bad when it is cold. It almost seems like the shifter is pushing back and does not want to go into the next gear. Same with upshifts or downshifts. Are all C6 mn6's like this.
Still have the stock shifter.
Thanks.

I posted about this over on C6 general. Was pleased to see I wasn't the only one noticing it...
Now I've got to say, when I posted I had 300+ mi on the C6. I just put on 200 more, and at least 100 of them were some pretty hard driving in the hills.
So after spanking the b* around a bit, the shifting has smoothed out *considerably*. I used to feel a slight hesitation going 1-2 and 2-3 but the 1-2 is all but gone, and only occasionally I feel it on the 2-3 shift.
If I still feel it after 1k mi, I might try switching out the tranny fluid, but right now I am much more happy than a week ago.
