It might give you some extra downforce at high speeds (150+)

Some other forum members have tried it and have said that the rear of the car stays cleaner.

No functionality over stocker? I figured there might have been some reason it was on the z06 lol.

I just played the GM DVD that came with the car and they say that it does add additional downforce on the rear wheels for high performance driving that would be encoutered with the Z06. So it does seem to be more than just for appearance.

Mine is the same color as my car, so it's got to be at LEAST 20hp!

TroutAddict,

At the top of the two inside tailights there is a torx screw, remove this and the taillights will slide out to the rear. Next reach inside the openings under the CHMSL (Center High Mounted Stop Light) and you'll feel 4 nuts remove these, then unclip the wiring harness, and wiggle the part upward.

Also, there should be detailed instructions with the unit when you buy one.

Good Luck,
Don

Because of the change in ALMS rules, there is a higher spoiler on the stock car.

It only starts working at 186mph.

Shockerracing.com - C6 ZO6 Spoiler Install on a C6 Corvette

Tools Needed:
-10 mm deep socket wrench
-15mm torx bit with driver
-Pliers

Step 1: First you will need to remove the two taillights closest to the middle of the vehicle. These taillights are held in by 1 torx screw at the top of the light.

Step 2: Second you will have to remove the four 10mm nuts that hold the stock spoiler on from the inside of the bumper. There are two on either side of the third brake light. In the picture below you can see two of the nuts that need to be removed.

Step3: Now that all four nuts have been removed be sure to disconnect the third brake light before trying to pull the factory spoiler off the vehicle. You can see the third brake light wire connector in the picture above. It is just a small clip you need to pull down while pulling the connector towards the front of the car.

Step 4: Now that the wire connector and the nuts are all removed you will need to carefully lift the stock spoiler off the vehicle. I found it helpful to push up on the spoiler from inside the taillight while wiggling the spoiler off. The following picture is what it will look like with the spoiler removed.

Step 5: The ZO6 spoiler came with new mounting bolts but you will need to reuse the stock third brake light on the ZO6 spoiler. I used a pair of pliers to unscrew the bolts that held the stock third brake light on, they unscrew real easily. Then I used the new bolts to reattach the third brake light to the ZO6 spoiler. I was able to screw all 4 new bolts into the spoiler by hand and just did a light tightening with the pliers.

Step 6: Carefully replace the ZO6 spoiler back onto your car and screw all four of the 10mm nuts back down, make sure to snug them but they do not need to be super tight. Also, do not forget to plug in the third brake light connector. The final thing to do is replace your two taillights.

I have not noticed any difference in downforce at any speed. If it does provide some additional downforce, it is not something you will ever notice. It is just a subtle difference in appearance over the stock one and I absolutely love it. Also, I have not noticed any difference in how dirty the rear of the car gets. I think this is because the majority of the dirt on the back of the cars comes from underneath the vehicle....from the road.
