Default Center console squeeking

Do any of you notice your center console making squeeking nosies as the car gets hot? Mine seem to do it alot when my leg rests on the console. Has anyone tried to fix this problem with any good results. Would love to hear from anyone else with this problem.

The car does have some squeeks when the weather gets too hot or too cold. I've used Silicon Lubrican (sold any local auto parts store) and spray them in between the cracks where there noise comes from. It seems to have all dissappeared, and the chemical won't damage your interior.

I have a permanent fix for the center council and the roof squeaks. Go to Lowes and buy a roll of adhesive felt. It looks like velco but is very thin black felt one inch wide with an adhesive back.

Pull the center council off and line the insides (where it touches the dash) with the felt. Also, put a little around the metal clips that snap back in.

For the roof, line the front and rear of the roof panel where it comes into contact with the weather striping.

I did this months ago and all is quiet.

I agree. The Velco / nylon felt work great for eliminating noise from the interior. I used it on my 1996 and 2005 to fix all the squeaks and rattles. Nylon type felt or Velco don't wear out as quickly as other material, so it should last a long time, too. Use it where ever two parts rub together.

I just ordered a new painted console and I’m having it installed next week. Thanks for the tip I’ll take some of the felt tape with me to have it installed and have them do it at the same time.

Get the padded console cover w/C6 logo - aftermarket for ~ $150

Solves the squeak & easier on the elbow.

There's a thread here somewhere.
