I was thinking of having my new headers ceramic coated, but I'm not sure it's worth doing. What are the advantages/disadvantages if any? The process cost $250 plus shipping.
I had Calico coatings in NC coat mine with their 2000 degree black coating. The headers stay warm to the touch and underhood temps are reduced significantly. The process cost $200.

Their are advantages but really you can do without them. It is for people that are really into racing etc... I dont have it on mine and the car temp runs fine.
Advantages: Extends header life, runs 50% cooler, which extends life of other under hood parts and may give you a cooler air intake; adds a little HP; looks cool; may help light off the cats quicker avoiding a CEL. If you coat the x-pipe and cats, it will help with the console heat. Cuts down on the "pinging" sound.

Ran my LT's for 1000miles before Ceramic application. Now they look sharp and should last much longer. Coated mine locally for $200. Look around for better pricing. $250+shipping for just the headers is too much.
