Go to tirerack.com and look at a few tires. In the specs (click on the tab) it will tell you the min/max rim sizes for the tire. And to see differences in tire diameters go to http://www.1010tires.com/tiresIZECAL...?ACTION=SUBMIT. You can play around with tire sizes there and it will tell you the overall diameter to stay within reasonable tolerances.

note i dont drive in rain or snow.
i would like to put as wide as possible on the rear on stock rim
A word of advice, I was discussing this with a friend of mine who works for GM, we'll just say he's a very credible source. He said that the worst thing you can do to the new vette is mess with tires without changing the wheels, "it will not only make the handling horrible, but the tires will wear down much faster."
