New, 400 mile z51, c6 m6, very quiet and smooth. Notice the engine is a little bit tappy sounding when decelerating, kind of a slight ticking as she winds down in the gears, but not so in acceleration and cruising. (same as the day I picked her up at 4 miles)
I believe this may be exhaust valve noise and nothing else but of course, am a little paranoid about everything with this car. Not burning oil, very strong, it just that slight ticking on decelration.
Before the purchase, I rented a c6 auto and remembered the same type of sound from the engine when downshifting with the paddle shifters.
I remeber the same comments from the C5 Z06 (LS6 engine) when they came out, I believe it is related to the valvetrain/injectors on the higher output engines (i.e. LS6, LS2 & LS7)
Vette people have been complaining about injector ticking since the first tpi engines back in 85'. However, power, streetability, and fuel economy are soooooo much better now that most of us don't even notice it.
